Potjies, pet runs and painting events to look out for in Ballito

There is a packed slate of events coming towards the end of this month.

23 August – Ballito Beer Run, Pints for Paws 5km run in aid of A Kintsugi Project animal shelter. R150pp. Starting at Dolphin Striders club house at 7.30am. Tickets via Quicket.

28 August – Ballito Writers Group meeting at the Ballito Library at 10.30am with tea. Writers will have the opportunity to share their writing on the theme ‘My encounter with an inspirational woman’. All welcome. Contact Peter Gunning at 083 441 1950.

30 August – Tongaat Ski Boat Club Potjie Competition in Westbrook. R125pp and R50 for kids U10. Contact Shaun at 084 544 2522.

– Annual Ballito Junction 5km Run at 7am. Wear you pink themed active gear in support of NPC ‘I Love Boobies’. Meet at level 6, outdoor piazza area. R150pp. All welcome.

– Women’s Month Sip and Paint at Capital Zimbali at 2pm. R450pp. Bookings via Quicket.

– Portuguese food & drink festival fundraiser for Henry Grobler at Mozambiq Ballito from 12-5pm. R100pp. Call 032 946 0979.

31 August – Music, food, laughter and community giving at Give and Gather Food Fest at Townsend Park from 9am-4pm. Call Marilyn at 082 320 2099.

3 September – Umhlali and District Garden & Flower Club meeting at All Souls Anglican Church at 9.30am. Americo Bonkewitzz will give a talk on butterflies. Visitors are welcome – entry is R50. Contact Linda at 082 326 4310, or Lesley 082 550 0851.

  •  First Friday of every month: Burnedale Farm Night Market, 4.30-8.30pm in Umhlali.
  •  Saturday and Sunday and selected public holidays: Ballito Farmers Market, 8am-3pm at Lower Oaklands Farm, Umhlali.
  •  Sunday: The Sugar Market – Farmers’ Edition, 10am – 2pm at Sugar Rush Park.
