Brettenwood brunch raises funds to prevent period poverty

Money raised was donated to the Red Movement, which distributes sanitary products to schools.

Brettenwood celebrated Women’s Month with a Ladies’ Brunch on 23 August, with proceeds supporting the Red Movement.

The Red Movement is an organisation dedicated to ending period poverty by providing underprivileged girls with sustainable sanitary products, ensuring they no longer miss up to a week of school each month and can embrace their future with confidence.

Guests enjoyed an inspiring morning of celebration, connection, and purpose. Highlights included a delicious harvest-style brunch by Woodlands Cafe, live music by Carmen Rodriques, and a showcase by Clarins. The Red Movement co-founder Lesego Mpyana shared the event’s central message, that a simple pledge can transform a young girl’s future, giving her dignity and the opportunity to rise above circumstance.

Brettenwood Marketing Manager Samantha Subban said:

“This brunch was about more than just coming together – it was about being women of purpose. Every contribution makes a tangible difference in the lives of girls who deserve the chance to thrive. Through collaboration with brands and businesses who share our vision, we can continue creating positive local impact. Purpose is most powerful when it’s collective.”
