Residents show out for first Give and Gather Food Fest at Townsend Park
The fundraising festival raised money for local organisations, while offering a fun day out.
A melting pot of flavours united the community at Sunday’s Give and Gather Food Festival, raising over R12 000 for local non-profits doing vital work.
Hosted at Townsend Park, people gathered to enjoy cuisine from around the world, fun activities for the kids and lively entertainment from singer René Tshiakanyi, while connecting with the inspiring organisations represented.

The event exceeded all expectations with strong attendance and an atmosphere of togetherness.
Proceeds will go towards Sables Creatures, which cares for vulnerable and neglected animals; Blessed Gérard’s Care Centre, which offers palliative care and social support; the Society of St Vincent de Paul, which assists the poor and marginalised; Cupcakes of Hope, raising awareness for children with cancer; Street Lit at the Denis Hurley Centre, which empowers homeless individuals through literature; The Napier Centre, which supports those recovering from drug and alcohol addiction and the Restore Africa Foundation, dedicated to community upliftment.

The organisers expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, noting that the festival was not only about the funds raised but also about celebrating and sharing the incredible work these charities do every day.

With such a successful debut, plans are already in motion to make the Charity Food Festival an annual event.
