Fun with fabulous flowers at Floral Art Club AGM

Members enjoyed a talk from expert Fay Fenn before creating their own arrangements.

Bold, colourful arrangements were on display as the Dolphin Coast Floral Art Club recently celebrated its AGM with a popular competition.

Held at All Saints Catholic Church on August 18, the meeting drew most club members for a touch of friendly rivalry and an informative talk from expert Fay Fenn.

Shar Richmond won two prizes – Best Use of Colour and Most Innovative.

Fenn made floral art look effortless while creating five quick designs, captivating the audience with tales of her childhood, family, garden and journey into the art form. She emphasised the importance of material placement and props, while sharing tips on proportion, balance and the value of using quality plant material.

Gerda Kaljee claimed the Best Intermediate prize.

Club members were inspired to keep growing, learning and looking out for unique materials to incorporate into their arrangements.

Those skills were immediately tested in the August competition, themed Strong and Stark. The inspired designs were a feast for the eyes and members enjoyed the experience while learning from the judges’ comments.

Vaughn Harrington was crowned Best Advanced and Best on Show.
