Nurture iLembe staff and patients play sport for good on Casual Day

The physical rehab centre enjoyed an annual sports day in high spirits.

Patients at Nurture Health iLembe enjoyed a day of sport and camaraderie in aid of charity last Friday.

Nurture iLembe, a physical rehabilitation centre in Ingenuity Park, Ballito, offers sub-acute in- and out-patient care for people with disabilities caused by disease or injury.

Kiara Birbal-Nandlal, Minieke de Bruyn and Dr Ingrid Hartmann with Claire McHugh, Dr Tammany Reddy and Bryden Ramruka.

The sports day is held in conjunction with Casual Day, South Africa’s largest fundraising and awareness campaign for people with disabilities.

Nurture physiotherapist and social media manager Saishna Bakool said the event exceeded expectations.

The hospital staff all helped make this a great day for the patients.

“Everyone had a great time, the patients enjoyed their day out and the weather played its part.”

Patients played a variety of games, including corn hole and ring toss. There was even a timed penalty shootout and a tug-of-war between sponsors, volunteers and hospital staff, which ended in a 1-1 tie.

Noshipho Mlaba, Nompumelelo, Saadia Essay and Keshmira Ramnarain.

Saishna said the event could not have happened without the entire staff team pulling together to make the day memorable and successful for an important cause.

“I work with a really great team, and I am very grateful for all their help. All money raised is donated to the Casual Day charity,” she added.
