Francois Rodgers commits to ending wasteful spending during visit to elderly in Ndwedwe

His visit followed complaints over a lack of governmental support for the Banomusa Health and Welfare Centre.

KZN Finance MEC Francois Rodgers brought walking sticks, blankets, groceries and promises of better governance to the elderly residents of Banomusa Health and Welfare Centre last week.

Rodgers visited the centre in rural Ndwedwe on Friday after hearing complaints about a lack of support from the provincial social development and health departments.

“As the Government of Provincial Unity, we have set out to build a capable and ethical state. Catering for marginalised and indigent citizens is, therefore, a key priority,” said Rodgers.

“We are working hard to stop corruption as well as unauthorised, irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure so that we are able to deliver services in an efficient manner.”

Banomusa Centre manager Khangeziwe Cele thanked the MEC and called for increased support and improved healthcare services to be provided.
