North Coast ladies swim for breast cancer solidarity at Thompson’s Bay
The annual ILoveBoobies Secret Swim expanded to 18 concurrent events countrywide this year.
Around 90 women took to the water at Thompson’s Bay on Saturday morning to swim in solidarity and raise awareness for breast cancer.
Organised by the ILoveBoobies non-profit organisation, the Secret Swim was one of 18 events held nationwide, a significant increase from the five inaugural swims held last year. Each event created a safe and supportive space for women to share stories and link arms with breast cancer survivors.

Participants could choose to swim topless as a symbolic gesture of support, with a group photo taken from behind to ensure everyone’s privacy and comfort.
“Our vision is to take the Secret Swim global and create a Guinness World Record for the largest breast cancer awareness event held simultaneously across multiple venues worldwide,” said ILoveBoobies director, Nicky Webb.

Beyond the Secret Swim initiative, ILoveBoobies also raises funds to provide free breast cancer screenings and promotes early detection through education and outreach across South Africa.
