Ballito Lifestyle festive fundraisers hit R143k
Summerhill House and the Christmas Fair Fund benefited from the funds raised.
The festive spirit was alive and well at Lifestyle Centre over the holidays, as two successful initiatives raised more than R143 000 for good causes.
First, a vacant retail space at the centre was made available free of charge to the Christmas Fair Fund for a pop-up store. Co-ordinated by Michelle Blake, the store brought together 10 local brands, supporting both community businesses and the fund itself.
The resulting profit of R129 548 will be used to uplift facilities at disadvantaged schools in the area, including Sizani Combined Primary School in Foxhill, which educates more than 900 children.
Lifestyle Centre managing director Cameron Rencken said the centre was proud to support the project.
“Lifestyle Centre has always been about more than retail – it’s about local people, community and connection. We were delighted to provide a space for the Christmas Fair Fund to bring this special initiative to life,” Rencken said.
Meanwhile, the centre also offered shoppers a complimentary gift-wrapping service in the week leading up to Christmas. While the service was free, customers were invited to make voluntary donations via QR code to support Summerhill House. Thanks to their generosity, R14 027 was raised.
Summerhill House’s Erica Lynn thanked the centre and shoppers, saying the funds “will go a long way in helping us provide the care, education and opportunities that make such a difference in the lives of our children”.
