Eight Umhlali Saps cops earn their stripes with new promotions
The station now has four new warrant officers and sergeants.
Eight police officers from Umhlali Police Station celebrated promotions to higher ranks last week.
Four members were promoted from sergeant to warrant officer, while another four advanced from the entry position of constable to sergeant. Nosipho Jali, Phumza MPunzana, Petros Mabanga and Agnes Dube are now warrant officers, while Sipho Mgenge, Israel Ngcongo, Brandon Maharaj and Sphiwe Masinga are promoted to sergeants.
These promotions mark important milestones within the Saps rank structure. A sergeant takes on supervisory responsibilities, guiding junior officers and often leading operational teams, while a warrant officer holds a more senior position with greater oversight and accountability.
Station Commander Colonel Fikile Xulu congratulated the cops on their achievements and encouraged them to remain committed to their duties.
“You must always remember that policing is a calling that demands integrity, especially when no one is watching. Wear your rank with pride and humanity,” said Xulu.
She emphasised that promotions are not only about recognition but also about trust and accountability.
