Cork-born Blythedale resident Veronica O’Dwyer is inviting residents to celebrate St Patrick’s Day at Mount Edgecombe Country Club on March 15.

The event, hosted by the Irish South Africa Association’s (ISAA) KZN chapter, will feature Irish music, dance and traditional food.

“I often encounter North Coast folk who share their pride in their Irish connections with me,” said O’Dwyer.

Organisers have assembled entertainment by two much-loved Durban performers: Dave Monks from the popular singing duo The Leprechauns and supper-club entertainer Marion Loudon.

Adding to the Irish flair, the Celtic Heartbeat Academy of Irish Dance KZN will perform world-class exhibition pieces.

O’Dwyer said the ISAA’s St Patrick’s Day event is unique because it is the only one in the region organised by the Irish.

“You don’t have to be Irish to come along, just ready to enjoy those great Irish vibes,” she added.

ISAA committee member Belinda Usher said organisers are looking forward to sharing great entertainment and Irish-inspired food with guests.

Guests will also hear the President of Ireland’s official St Patrick’s Day message, delivered by the Embassy of Ireland’s Trade and Economic Secretary, Cillian Rooney.

He will toast the local Irish community and share updates on Irish-South African initiatives, while historian Donal McCracken will share Irish wit and historical insight.

A three-course buffet lunch will be served, featuring favourites such as steak and Guinness pie and an Irish whiskey-infused dessert sauce, with a vegetarian option available.
