Dolphin Coast to pilot new community-focused app
Residents can access verified news, stay updated on local events and engage directly with community initiatives.
A new digital platform aimed at improving local communication and supporting small businesses launched last week.
The 4MyCommunities app, on the Fusion onQ platform, was formally introduced at the Zululami clubhouse on Wednesday evening. Founder Mark Whitehead said the platform takes a local-first approach to bringing communities closer.
“Communities today rely on multiple fragmented channels to stay informed and connected. This platform brings everything together in one place, while giving people a practical way to support and strengthen their community,” he said.

Unlike traditional social media, the app operates as an invitation-only space where content is shared by trusted local contributors, ensuring information is relevant and reliable.
Residents can access verified news, stay updated on local events and engage directly with community initiatives.
The platform also supports the local economy by allowing users to recommend, rate and review businesses. Businesses pay to list their services.

Whitehead said the aim is to give residents a simple way to contribute to their communities.
“So many people want the best for where they live, but often don’t know how to contribute. This platform gives them a way,” he said.
John Warsop, executive director at Qkey, the company that provides the Fusion onQ platform on which the app is hosted, said it focuses on building trusted communities where people can engage with confidence and accountability.

The Dolphin Coast has been selected as the pilot area, with plans to expand nationally. Residents and businesses are able to request access through existing members or developers.
