28 May – Ballito Writers’ Group monthly meeting at the Ballito Library at 10.30am. All welcome. Project engineer Steven Smith will speak on the topic of “The role of imagination for authors.”

– Sundowners on Eat Street with DJ Marcel from 4-6pm.

– StorySlamKZN at Butcher & Wine in Salt Rock. Dinner from 5.30pm, storytelling from 7pm, booking essential at 081 799 8750. Five speakers will each tell a five-minute true story. R100pp in support of the DKS Scholarship Fund. All welcome to tell a story, contact Karen Doveton at 084 900 5444.

29 May – Catch Hale Mary at The Market between 6-9pm or Chuck Bowden on Eat Street from 6.30-9.30pm.

30 May – Ballito Gesinskerk bazaar from 8am-2pm. Food stalls, tea garden, kids’ zone with foam pit, reptile show and a variety of exhibitors.

– Calling all vendors for the Umhlali Methodist Church car boot sale from 8.30am-midday. R250 per stand. Contact Belinda at 082 927 7623.

– Darnall Country Club ‘Save Our Club’ golf day at the club. Shotgun start at 9am, R2 000 per two ball, better ball, with cart, welcome, halfway house and dinner included. Contact Gary at 073 159 5507.

– Breakfast at The Studios with Ant Crawthorn Blazeby from 10.30am-12.30pm, before lunch at The Market with Angel between 12.30-3.30pm. James Freedom will take over at The Market from 6-9pm, with Afritude performing on Eat Street between 6.30-9.30pm.

– Learn to relax guided session with The Brahma Kumaris at Ballito Library from 1.30-3pm. Free entry, donations welcome. RSVP 083 430 8926.

– Sokkie for Summerhill House fundraiser at Burnedale Farm. Good music, food and plenty of gees from 5.30pm. Tickets from Quicket.

31 May – Blythedale Trail Run from 6.30am. 5, 11 and 19km options available, tickets start at R135 from kzntrailrunning.co.za.

– #LoveNorthCoast pop-up run starting and finishing at the Waffle Society in Ballito Village. The first 100 arrivals get free coffee. 5 and 10km options available, 7am start. Free to join.

– Give and Gather Charity Food Fest at Townsend Park from 10am-3pm. Food stalls and activities for the whole family, with live music. Free entry.

– Breakfast at The Studios with Susan Barry from 10.30am-12.30pm. Dave Imrie will perform at The Market from 12.30-3.30pm, with the Kickstands on Eat Street between 1-4pm.

3 June – Enviro talk at Pavilion Room, Simbithi Country Club from 6pm, R30 at the door. Guest speaker Andrew ‘Snakeman’ Douglas will present on “Snakes in Estates.” Overview of common species, identification and safety precautions. For more information, email environmental@simbithi.com.

• Thursday and Sunday: Salt Rock Farmers’ Market at Slow Roads Collective. 7am-12pm on Thursday and 9am-1pm on Sunday.

• First Friday of every month: Burnedale Farm Night Market, 4.30-8.30pm in Umhlali.

• First Friday of every month: Market 032 night market, 6-9pm at La Montagne.

• First and last Saturday of the month: Car boot sale at Ballito Gesinskerk, 7-11am.

• Saturday, Sunday and selected public holidays: Ballito Farmers Market, 8am-3pm at Lower Oaklands Farm, Umhlali.
