Brettenwood golf day fundraiser transforms Flag Animal Farm’s reptile centre

The centre is now better for both the reptiles themselves and visitors.

A popular Brettenwood golf day raised R150 000 to renovate and upgrade Flag Animal Farm’s reptile centre late last year.

The estate identified the good work being done by Flag Animal Farm, which has rehomed more than 14 000 animals over 26 years, and selected it as the beneficiary. The funding has helped improve the reptile centre, providing better facilities for the animals while enhancing educational opportunities for visitors.

Snakes play a critical role in maintaining balance within the ecosystem, yet fear and misinformation often place them at risk. Through rescue operations and ongoing awareness programmes, the team promotes safer and more informed coexistence between communities and wildlife.

Brettenwood marketing and events manager Samantha Subban thanked participants, sponsors and the Brettenwood Homeowners Association team for their support, saying the community’s generosity is helping improve the lives of animals in need.

She also encouraged readers to save the date for the next Brettenwood Golf Day on September 23 and invited businesses to sponsor a tee box and golfers to register their interest by emailing sam@brettenwood.co.za.
