Ballito events to look out for this June

There's plenty to enjoy.

12 June – Get your weekend started with James Freedom at The Market between 6-9pm or at Eat Street with Quiet Storm from 6.30-9.30pm.

13 June – Breakfast at The Studios with Tara Blake between 10.30am-12.30pm, before lunch at The Market with Dave Imrie from 12.30-3.30pm. Hale Mary will take over at The Market between 6-9pm, with Chuck Bowden performing at Eat Street from 6.30-9.30pm.

– Rocky Shore 1km Night Walk from Chaka’s Rock beach (outside Salt Café) from 6pm. 169pp. 20 spots available from Quicket.

– Dolphin Coast Striders Comrades shake-out run at 7am from Concha Café. All welcome. Free coffee for runners who show a valid Comrades race number.

14 June – Breakfast with Rene Tshiakanyi at The Studios from 10.30am-12.30pm. Catch the Black Lapels at The Market between 12.30-3.30pm or The Kickstands on Eat Street from 1-4pm.

– Rocky Shore Explorer extended version from 7-11am. About 9km. Starting point at Willard Beach parking lot. Tickets R299pp and kids U13 R199pp via Quicket.

19 June – Ballito Gesinskerk Barnyard-style evening with Blarney & Son from 6pm. Bring your own picnic basket and enjoy a relaxed community gathering. Tickets R150 for adults, R100 for high school pupils and R50 for junior school pupils from Leonie at the church office – 064 867 2995. Tickets include coffee and a slice of apple pie.

20 June – Tequila Cup at Karibu Padel from 10am-3pm. Loads of hampers, raffles, cash prizes, DJs and bands.

21 June – Ballito Book Readers meeting – ‘Memories of Childhood Reading’ at Ekhaya Guest House, Ballito at 2pm. World-renowned storyteller Gcina Mhlophe is a special guest. RSVP to Richard at 078 780 0735.

25 June – StorySlamKZN at Butcher & Wine in Salt Rock Centre. Dinner from 5.30pm, storytelling from 7pm, booking essential at 081 799 8750. Five speakers each tell a five minute true story. R100pp in support of the DKS Scholarship Fund. All welcome to tell a story, contact Karen Doveton at 084 900 5444.

• Wednesday: Market 032 from 8am-12.30pm at La Montagne.
• Thursday and Sunday: Salt Rock Farmers’ Market at Slow Roads Collective. 7am-12pm on Thursday and 9am-1pm on Sunday.
• First Friday of every month: Burnedale Farm Night Market, 4.30-8.30pm in Umhlali.
• First Friday of every month: Market 032 night market, 6-9pm at La Montagne.
• First and last Saturday of the month: Car boot sale at Ballito Gesinskerk, 7-11am.
• Saturday, Sunday and selected public holidays: Ballito Farmers Market, 8am-3pm at Lower Oaklands Farm, Umhlali.
