New Umdloti community space blends surf culture, coffee and remote working
The launch of the expanded Victory Surf Shop was well attended last week.
Umdloti locals started the weekend on a cheerful note last Friday morning at the invite-only soft opening of a new community space in the seaside village.

Over freshly brewed coffee, snacks and smoothies, guests enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the venue, which combines old-school surf culture and art with a modern remote-working space overlooking the ocean.

The space is an extension of the Victory Surf Shop below. Owner Deon Bosman, the voice behind the popular Bossie’s Beach Report, said he wanted to create a place where Umdloti residents could meet, relax and work remotely.

“The surf shop downstairs is about business, but upstairs is about community,” he said.
While coffee and meals are available for purchase, Bosman said people are also welcome to bring their own food while making use of the workspace.
