Four pupils at the Beaches Primary have been taking taekwondo classes and have passed their recent grading.
Sipho Malaba, Lungisani Mtshali, Ntando Gumbi and Malusi Maseme have been doing taekwondo with Linda Smit from the Ballito Martial Arts Masters Club.
“The club and Townhouse rentals have sponsored these boys classes, clothing and transport to do their grading,” Smit said after the boys received their certificates in front of the school recently.
“The boys have shown a real interest and worked hard to pass,” Smit said.
The four boys train once a week.
“I have been told the boys are much more confident and are even doing better academically since they started doing taekwondo. It teaches you discipline and helps you overcome obstacles that life throws at you.”
The Beaches headmistress, Carolyn Creighton is happy with her students having the chance to learn the martial art.
“We are so grateful to Linda, she is so kind and generous to sponsor their training. She really does this from the bottom of her heart,” Creighton said.
Smit trains under Vladimir Grachev at the Ballito Martial Arts Masters Club.
