Ashton International College has scored their third 100% pass rate in four weeks, with their first set of form three (grade 10) pupils achieving outstanding results in the Cambridge International Examinations.
Executive head Joe Erasmus announced the results on Friday.
The results follow Ashton’s 100% matric IEB pass rate and junior college Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Examinations. Ashton is the only school in KwaZulu-Natal to offer both Independent Examinations Boad (IEB) and Cambridge International Examination (CIE) curriculi.
Erasmus called the results an academic hat trick.
“At Ashton we continually strive to define our school as an institution of academic excellence where students are exposed to a cross-curriculum of the challenging IEB and CIE. The Cambridge O level is an internationally recognised qualification equivalent to a United Kingdom matric.”
Ashton’s 24 candidates achieved 76 distinctions with a 3.2% average distinction per candidate.
Four students attained distinctions in all seven of  their examined subjects.
Alwyn Small was the top achiever with an aggregate of 92,3%, followed by Christine Brokensha with 91,5%, Anika Botha with 90,7%, Justin Schruer with 88% and Tayla Swartz with 86%.
Pupils may now choose to continue in form four and five with their A levels, which is equivalent to a post-matric qualification.
