Nkosibomvu celebrated their class of 2013 top achievers last Friday in a dignitary studded ceremony held at the Hambanathi Resource Centre in Tongaat.
Principals from neighbouring schools and other education officials came out to congratulate the students on their outstanding achievements.
In the packed hall, former principal and guest speaker Pastor Khuzwayo praised both Nkosibomvu teachers and pupils for their commitment to getting good results.
“There was a time when people would leave Nkosibomvu to travel to schools in town because they felt this school was not good enough. It is nice to see that more and more pupils are proud to fly this school’s flag again,” said Khuzwayo.
Some of the 2013 matriculants were awarded in abstenture as they had already left home to study at tertiary institutions around the country.
Dux scholar, Sandiswa Lombo who achieved seven distinctions last year was in Durban alongside other Ethekwini municipality top achievers when they were honoured by the mayor, James Nxumalo.
He told the Courier that it was through God’s work and his teachers’ and parents’ belief in him that he was able to achieve distinctions in all his subjects.
