Happy 97th birthday Umhlali Prep!

Starting with only 14 children, the school has grown a lot after 97 years.

Umhlali Preparatory’s Valentine’s celebration was all the more precious due to the fact that it turned 97 on February 11.

The school was established in 1918 with only 14 learners – six boys and eight girls.

Through striving for excellence with all your might, as the school motto suggests, it has established itself as one of the top schools and now has over 950 learners.

Discipline and respect are two of the cornerstones of the school’s ethos.

The dedicated staff, visionary management team, supportive parents and business community ensure that every learner is nurtured to reach their full potential in a challenging, stimulating and conducive environment.

The learners are always encouraged to engage in community outreach to make a difference.

This holistic development that learners are afforded has seen many Umhlalians being appointed heads of prefects in many of the top schools around KZN.

On the sporting arena, Umhlali has contributed significantly to the district, provincial as well as national teams in different codes.
