Senayah and Kamaya Moodliar from Umhlali Preparatory have been invited to compete in numerous international golfing championships.
Senayah (12) and Kamaya Moodliar (9) of Umhlali Preparatory have done not only their school and family, but also their region and their country proud by qualifying for and being invited to play in some of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the world.
The sisters are invited to participate in the 2015 Texas Open from May 9 to 10 at Horseshoe Bay Resort in Horseshoe Bay, Texas, the European Golf Championships in Scotland in May and the Venice Open, a two-day championship in Venice, Italy in August.
They also scooped an invite to the 2015 World Championship in Pinehurst, North Carolina in the USA at the end of July. The three day tournament will be followed by the 10th Annual World Cup featuring the top 12-year-olds in a team event on Pinehurst No. 2. The US Kids Golf World Championships is the world’s largest and most prestigious event for kids ages 12 and under.
The Moodliar sisters worked hard for these invitations and ensured an outstanding performance on the local scene.
In January they participated in the Foundation Tournament for boys and girls in Mount Edgecombe and Kamaya came first in the C Division whilst Senayah came fifth in the B Division.
Senayah participated in the Simbithi Club Championship and finished third in the A Division whilst her younger sister Kamaya won the Simbithi Ladies Club Championship B Division.
At nine-years-old, Kamaya is the youngest female golfer in KZN to win a club championship trophy.
Between the two of them they have won 40 SA Kids Golf Tournament trophies and are both going to Cape Town to play in The Nomads Rosebowl Junior Championships on March 30 and April 1.
These young girls have both been selected to represent KZN Ladies Golf Association in the Junior Girls Open Championship to be held in Orkney in June.
