Kids moving up through the ranks

Karate students earn their belts at grading.

The karate kids at The Liquid Movement, KSI Karate Dojo based at Curro Mt Richmore Private School shone at their grading this month.

Sensei Jane Gardner was proud to present her children’s karate skills to the head of KSI KZN, Sensei Don Gold, as well as Sensei Sylvia Gold and Sensei Harry Eaton, who checked every move the children made.

After an afternoon of intense concentration and a series of perfected moves, the results were announced and received with relief and excitement.

Cullen Mackay Leslie received white advance, Luke Mackay Leslie, Suranya and Keresa Naidoo, Nicky Gosling, Noah de Beer, Sameshan Kisten and Jasmin Gardner took yellow, Brogan Miskin, Garrick Joubert bagged yellow advanced, Xanthe Beneke and Damien Gardner made orange and Shannon Loud is a proud new green belt.

“I am so proud of the children and I am glad all their hard work and dedication has paid off,” said Gardner.

Gardner reminded her pupils that no matter what belt they achieved, they have to always keep a white belt mentality, because you are never too experienced to learn.
