A fun splash with the stars

Maidstone swimmers get to practice with some of the best in the game.

Maidstone Primary School’s swimming pool was filled with some of the country’s best swimmers having fun with the school’s most promising swimming stars earlier this month.

Prinicpal Mike Whitehead welcomed the parents, little swimmers and teachers to the swimming clinic, which was organised by Absa, a subsidiary of the Barclays Africa Group.

“In the past, we were a strong swimming school. I have appealed to parents to help us revive swimming in our school and I am glad to say it is working. We participated in the interschools gala for the second time this year and I am happy to say that we did not come last,” said Whitehead.

Some of South Africa and India’s best swimmers showed the children their swimming techniques, followed by a few friendly races.

Reann Moodley, Jeshae Reddy and Renee Premandhan are Maidstone's star swimming girls.
