Ace this exam term with your kid with these tips:
1. Feed for optimal nutrition Refined foods (think white bread sandwiches, biscuits, sugar coated cereals, chips, crisps and Mac-n-Cheese) are not only ‘empty’ in terms of nutritional content, they leech vitamins and minerals out of good food too.
As a rule of thumb, the brighter and more kid appealing the box, the more appalling the sugar and MSG content in the ‘food’.
A parent who puts a child on a refined food diet is essentially starving the child of nutrition. Remove empty sugars and concentration, memory and behaviour will improve.
Supplements including B vitamins and Omega 3 oils have shown to improve school performance if taken regularly.
GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is an amino acid found in fermented foods or supplement form. It is excellent for children with high anxiety levels and ADD. Do more for your child by doing less. Eat. Sleep. Play. Repeat.
2. Put technology on diet One parent was amazed when her child’s English grades went from a ‘C’ aggregate to an ‘A’ within a term. Without TV, the child learnt to entertain himself by reading books!

3. Exercise boosts brain power The Korean department of education opted to extend the school day by an hour to incorporate physical education back into the curriculum. The inclusion of exercise into the timetable correlated to an average 30 percent improvement in marks on a national level.
A 20-minute game outside before hitting the books has proven to boost memory retention and concentration. As exam fever winds up, wind down as a family.
Engage over nutritious family meals. Play more to ensure a power study hour.
Go to sleep earlier and the entire household will know a stress-less morning that follows.
