WATCH: Salt Rock dancing queen lights up the stage

Caitlyn Naicker is dancing, speaking and writing her way to the top.

Since the day Caitlyn Naicker climbed up onstage at Monte Casino during a live concert at the age of two, she knew she was destined for fame.

Dynamite comes in small packages, and this rings true for Caitlyn, who at the age of 12 is dancing, speaking and writing her way to the top.

The Umhlali Prep grade six pupil has already brought home a number of awards for her achievements.

From winning the showstopper award for the best overall performance at her recent school talent show with a show-stopping solo dance routine, to presenting an award-winning speech at the recent Luthuli Museum speech contest, Caitlyn is setting the benchmark for young cultural achievers.

“If there is music and an audience, you will find me dancing – no matter where we are!” said Caity, who inherited her love of arts from her gran and mom.

Coming first in the speech contest landed her an invitation to the Chief Albert Luthuli memorial lecture later this month.

Among her other talents is her love of writing, and Caity was one of two pupils selected from her school to take part in a programme whereby each pupil writes a short story about the country’s leaders.

The book will be published in March 2019.

Inspired by the work of English novelist Jacqueline Wilson, she hopes to hold on to her creative side and one day be a writer – who also loves to dance.
