Creating a clean haven for Salt Rock beachgoers

More than 80 Haven Academy pupils were more than ready to do their bit for the environment.

Haven Academy pupils rolled up their sleeves at Salt Rock Beach on Friday last week.

Equipped with gloves and plastic bags, more than 80 children from the private school in Tongaat were more than ready to do their bit for the environment.

The school’s Cherise Brown said the timing was perfect as their excursion was just after a storm which caused litter to wash onto the sand.

“We want to teach the children the importance of getting involved and contributing to a better and cleaner community.”

DA Salt Rock councillor Malcolm Hubner encouraged the pupils to never stop working for a better future.

“The actions you take today will help future generations to enjoy the natural resources that are available to us now.”
