Shoes with heart

Over 400 pairs of shoes were collected for the Soul Mates Foundation by Curro Mount Richmore recently.

“Empathy is about standing in someone else’s shoes, feeling with his or her heart, seeing with his or her eyes. Not only is empathy hard to outsource and automate, but it makes the world a better place.” Daniel H. Pink.

With this quote in mind, over 400 pairs of shoes were collected for the Soul Mates Foundation by Curro Mount Richmore recently.

The Foundation was started by 14-year-old high school pupil Tatum Teunissen and her fellow pupils, teachers and parents jumped on board to hellp give people a new feeling of pride of self esteem starting with a pair of shoes.

The school collected shoes of all shapes and sizes to hand out to people in need – sports shoes were given to development soccer, netball, rugby and cricket foundations, while childrens’, ladies’ and mens’ shoes were given to the underpriveledged.

A generous Curro grade R parent donated 200 pairs of brand-new shoes – 100 ladies’ and 100 childrens’ shoes.

The school thanked everyone who helped them with this heartfelt project.
