Prison cells overflow “with kindness”

When I grow up I definitely don't want to be behind bars.

The Umhlali Interact Club paid a visit to Umhlali SAPS to hand over much-needed blankets knitted by pupils and parents to the Umhlali Trauma Centre last Thursday.

This formed part of the schools Mandela Day initiative.

The pupils were given a tour of the police station and got to experience what it is like to be in police custody.

“We wanted the pupils to have a glimpse of what it is like to be in jail and maybe that can change their mindsets about crime,” said Captain Vinny Pillay.
