Ashton jockey reaches new heights

"It is in his blood - my grandfather and my uncle were jockeys," said Hoggan.

Chad Hoggan, in grade nine at Ashton International College, was awarded his KZN Equestrian Colours by the President of the South African National Equestrian School Association.

Chad competes in show jumping with his horse Emerald Isle Afrikaner and will be representing KZN at Nationals in Pretoria later this month.

“He is super excited. He has represented KZN previously but this is the first time he is representing on his new horse,” said his dad, Kurt Hoggan. He added that Chad had started riding at the age of three.
