Top marks for Crawford pupils at Tournament of Minds

This year marks the first year that students were competing nationally in the competition, which aims to test problem-solving skills and creative and critical thinking. 

Pupils from Crawford International North Coast excelled at the recent Tournament of Minds competition. 

The school won six awards at the competition, which was the most of any school that entered.

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, teams recorded answers to preset questions and judging was done virtually on October 24.

Five teams of students from grades 4 to 10 entered and took part on a number of different categories.

Team 1 from grade 7, Nirandhan Naidoo, Neha Naicker, Anezka Arthur, Dristhi Ramsumner, Manzil Harikaran-Giandev, Krisha Reddy and Tasvir Singh.

Team 3, made up of grade 9 students won the High School Social Sciences category.

Team 5, from grade 10 won the High School STEM category.

Team 3 from grade 9. Daisy Pybus, Aphiwe Ndlela, Akwande Nzama, Sbonga Ntombela, Nothando Mdletshe, Mikara Govender, Skyla Tyack.

A further 2 teams were awarded Honours Certificates, meaning they were close to a winning score.
