Awards galore as Crawford pupils excel on and off the field

This was such an incredible way to celebrate the grit and determination which Grade 12s have shown pre and during the pandemic.

Crawford North Coast pupils did themselves proud despite a challenging year, culminating in their Sports Awards and Valedictory evening on October 9. 

It was an opportunity to gather safely with the hall capped at 50% capacity and celebrate after a tumultuous year for all involved. 

Drew Kühn won the Kotze Cup, which is awarded to a male student who excels in many sporting codes during their time at college. He was swimming captain and touch rugby vice-captain as well as the Surfer and water polo player of the year.

“With all the challenges this pandemic has brought into the world this year, we had amalgamated both the achievements in the classroom and on the sports field.

Twins Zenya and Amera Naicker finished as the top two students for 2020. Zenya (left) finished first with an aggregate of 93.48% and Amera (right) finished second with an aggregate of 92.51%.

Asanda Mngomezulu is the male Sportsmanship award winner. He is the Sports Executive on the Student Leadership Body as well as the hockey and sports festival captain, representing the iLembe District in hockey.

They have exemplified what it means to be a Crawfordian and we would like to wish them all the best in their final examination and future endeavors,” said member of management, AJ Pillay.

Sportsperson of the Year, Daisy Dixon who received full colours for swimming. She was also the Victrix Ludorum, an award she has won every year since grade 8. She completed her 10th consecutive Midmar Mile and is the swimming captain.
