Community outreach, a central ethos at Umhlali Prep

Sports equipment and books were donated to the Charlottedale Community Centre, while pre-loved handbags will be given to ladies at the Jess Ford Foundation crisis centre.

Community outreach continues to be an important part of Umhlali Prep’s ethos, teaching pupils the importance of giving back.

Recently, this has manifested in 3 programmes designed to help local people in need.

Lily Haley, Grace Brautheseth, Emily Wang, Abigail McHugh, Savannah Paterson and Lois Clarkson with their collected bags.

“We are extremely lucky to have families at Umhlali Prep who are always willing to help with our initiatives,” said principal, Sandy Wiggill.

Sports equipment and books were donated to the Charlottedale Community Centre, while pre-loved handbags will be given to ladies at the Jess Ford Foundation crisis centre.

On World Book Day, students were allowed to dress up as a character from their favourite book, while also gathering book donations for Maidstone Primary School.

The students were able to enjoy a day of fancy dress while making a marked difference, helping to create a library at the school.
