Ashton pupils amoung top 3 in the world for Cambridge exams

They competed against pupils from 140 countries who wrote the Cambridge examinations, making their achievements all the more remarkable.

Ashton International College pupils Yadheya Govender and Rachel Taljard have achieved an incredible feat, both finishing among the top 3 worldwide for a single subject.

They competed against pupils from 140 other countries who wrote the Cambridge examinations, making their achievements all the more remarkable.

Govender was first in South Africa and second worldwide for IGCSE physical science in Grade 10, scoring 97%.

Not content with topping the country’s achievement list once, Govender also finished on top in SA for IGCSE accounting (98%).

Taljard came first in SA and third worldwide for AS Level English language in Grade 11 with a final score of 96%.

“It still has not really sunk in, but we are both really proud of how we finished and hope to achieve similar results this year,” said Taljard.

Not to be outdone, another 5 Ashton pupils finished among the top achievers in the country for a subject.

In the AS Level examinations, Prishanthi Govender emerged as the top candidate in biology, while Samantha Carver placed first in geography.

At IGCSE Level, Kyle Neethling (accounting), Nabila Sayed (business studies) and Ellen Paul (geography) all finished first in SA.
