Umhlali Prep swimmers win big at KZN champs

Six of the pupils brought back medals, placing them among the top 3 in the province in their respective races.

Thirteen of Umhlali Prep’s best swimmers made their presence felt at the KwaZulu-Natal junior championships, powering their way to fantastic results.

On February 5 and 6, the swimmers aged 9 to 12 competed in the annual event at King’s Park swimming pool in Durban, representing their school and clubs with style.

Morganne Michielsen, Emily Wang, Zoey Faircliff, Paige Croxford and Chloe Vogt were all smiles after their races.

Saskya Kistnasami (10) – who swims for the Seals team – was the top performer, winning 3 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals.

The Umhlali KZN championship medal winners (all representing Ohana Aquatics unless otherwise stated – Emily Wang, Morganne Michielsen, Saskya Kistnasami (Seals Swimming), Connor MacLachlan, Jack Hill and Preston Bees-Atkinson.

Aside from Saskya, all the swimmers represented the Ohana Aquatics team, with Emily Wang (9) leading the charge.

She won 2 golds and a bronze, while Preston Bees-Atkinson (12) also struck gold, winning one of his events, while grabbing silver in 3.

Jack Hill (10) finished his day with a full house of 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.

Morganne Michielsen (9) won 1 silver and 1 bronze, while Connor MacLachlan (10) rounded off the medals haul with 1 bronze.

Special mention also goes to Zoey Faircliff, James Fryer, Ross Hill, Benjamin Keeton, Rupert Keeton, Chloe Vogt and Freyja Weaver for making the finals in their respective events.
