Darnall play brings back the 80s

The beautifully choreographed performances were composed and directed by teachers Pia Bateman, Alex Futter, Laurel Read and Riya Singh of Stanger Manor.

Darnall Primary School recently staged its much anticipated bi-annual school production Around the World in 80’s Days, which saw all 158 pupils from grades 1 to 7 take to the stage.

This daunting, yet highly entertaining undertaking which required much hard work and dedication from both staff and pupils, was produced and directed by Robyn Livingstone together with teacher Lizel Benade.

The main characters of the play Around the World in 80’s Days are Jeanu Fivaz (Detective Fix), Shivaan Durgapershad (Passepartout), Chloe Groom (Phileas Fogg), Aryia Sewchand (Princess Aouda) and Caleb Moonsamy (Lord Kelvin).

The humorous and upbeat production included an exclusive matinee for pupils’ grandparents.

Of particular delight were the high-energy dance acts, which had many in the audience swaying along to the popular 80s soundtrack.

The beautifully choreographed performances were composed and directed by teachers Pia Bateman, Alex Futter, Laurel Read and Riya Singh of Stanger Manor.
