North Coast girls’ schools take on Durban

Ashton were the best performing North Coast team, narrowly losing out on goal difference in Pool B to Our Lady of Fatima.

All four North Coast private schools were in action at the SPAR KZN Schoolgirl’s Hockey Tournament at the weekend.

Ashton International College, Reddam House Ballito, Curro Salt Rock and Crawford International North Coast sent teams to compete in the Durban North regional league, which saw 10 schools enter.

Teams were split into two divisions, where every team played each other once and the top finishing school in each faced off in a grand final.

In Pool A, eventual winners Danville Park Girls’ High School dominated, as Curro Salt Rock finished fourth with six points.

Danville would go on to beat Fatima 1-0 in the final, to earn their spot in the provincial grand finals in July.

Ashton’s Gareth Bishop was awarded the best umpire on the day.
