Action heats up on exciting day two of Reddam Sports Festival

Alongside some excellent sporting performances, guests also enjoyed a music and dance showcase at the official opening ceremony.

The 2025 Reddam House Ballito U13 Sports Festival continued with another full day of soccer and the introduction of netball action on Saturday.

Boys and girls from nine schools countrywide enjoyed some excellent competition on day two of the three-day festival.

The day began with the Reddam marimba band entertaining the crowds during the tournament’s early fixtures before the official opening ceremony in the school auditorium.

Players, family and guests enjoyed performances from classical musicians before Reddam House Ballito’s Grade 11 dance troupe wowed the crowd.

Former Springboks loosehead prop, Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira, also addressed the contestants and their families with an inspiring speech, before posing for photos with eager young players.

The opening ceremony ended with a passionate rendition of South Africa’s national anthem Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika.

Springboks’ legend “Beast” Mtawarira urged the youngsters to use sport as a tool for future success.

Back on the sports fields, Ashton International College Ballito topped both the soccer and netball tables to advance to Sunday’s grand finals.

The boy’s soccer team won all four games and will face Johannesburg’s Reddam House Bedfordview in the gold medal match.

Home team Reddam House Ballito placed third and will meet Reddam House Umhlanga in the bronze medal game.
