Curro netball teams claim end-of-season silverware

All four Curro age-group 'A' teams won medals at the South Coast tournament at the weekend.

Curro Salt Rock ended their outdoor netball season by claiming four medals at the Kingsway High School Grand Slam Netball Finals on Saturday (June 7).

Six schools from across the province competed in the series, with only the top four teams in each age group making the competition. All of Curro’s high school ‘A’ teams qualified for the medal matches in Amanzimtoti at the weekend.

Kingsway High School, Hoërskool Suid-Natal and Gelofte Skool also qualified for the final four, while Kuswag Skool and Crawford La Lucia fell away.

The 1st team capped a trophy-laden 2025 season with another piece of silverware by collecting silver on the south coast.

They were matched by the U15A team, while both the U16A and U14A teams claimed bronze.

The 1st team, led by captain fantastic Luzanri Buys who brought up her century of caps two weeks ago, claimed a silver medal.

First team head coach, Chené Gissing, praised the school’s players for their displays at Kingsway and throughout the campaign. She highlighted the netballers’ sportsmanship, noting they are great ambassadors for the school and themselves.

“I’m incredibly proud of our netball players, particularly their growth throughout the season and for representing Curro so well.” said Gissing.

“We are incredibly proud of each player who represented the school at the Grand Slam Netball Finals. Our players’ growth, perseverance, and commitment has not gone unnoticed.

“The players’ hard work and commitment truly paid off – well done to all our players and coaches!”
