Potato planting at Sizani Combined School was a particular highlight.

Sizani pupils learn farming skills through potato planting project

Sizani Combined School embraced spring by planting potatoes and teaching pupils farming basics through an inspiring initiative from the Restore Africa Foundation.

Twenty-two classes rolled up their sleeves to plant potatoes in buckets, with pupils taking on different stages of the process under supervision.

“This pilot programme also serves as a model for basic skills training that we plan to present to the education department. We hope to advocate for its inclusion in the curriculum, especially to support children in areas with limited access to traditional gardening spaces,” said Louw.
The foundation hopes to expand the programme to other local schools.
