R7 000 prize for SPAR Junior Superstar winner

Nominated in May, Priyasha Naidoo is a consistently high achieving pupil from Durban North.

Grade Seven pupil Priyasha Naidoo from Northlands Primary School has been named the overall primary school winner of the 2025 SPAR Superstar competition.

Priyasha received a R7 000 SPAR voucher and a goodie bag in recognition of her exceptional achievements across academics, coding, sport and leadership.

Nominated in May, Priyasha has consistently ranked first in her class and grade throughout her senior primary years. She recently placed first nationally in the Beyond Maths competition, topping more than 4 000 pupils from 32 schools in the Level 2 category for Grades 6 and 7.

Beyond academics, Priyasha excels in coding and robotics, having won several awards and competed in LEGO League events. She is also an active member of the drama team and captain of the Northlands tennis team, representing eThekwini at the KZN Junior Inter-District Tournament in 2024 and again this year.

Though surprised by the win, Priyasha had a message of encouragement for her peers.

“Always believe in yourself and never give up,” she said.

SPAR KZN advertising and sponsorship manager Nozipho Mkhize congratulated Priyasha, saying, “We are proud to reward her incredible achievements. Education is a pillar of our values at SPAR and we want to continue supporting pupils who show such promise.”

Mkhize also thanked participating schools and voters across the province for their ongoing support of the SPAR Superstars initiative.
