New tech rollout brings digital learning to Sizani Primary
Computers were donated as part of a provincial digital access programme.
Excitement swept through Sizani Combined Primary School in Foxhill on Monday, as pupils received new computers through the Provincial Treasury’s Digital Access Programme (DAP).
MEC for Finance, Francois Rodgers said the initiative is aimed at improving access to digital learning tools in under-resourced schools.
The programme seeks to equip pupils with essential skills needed to succeed in a modern, technology-driven economy.
Rodgers, who also serves as Cabinet champion for the district, stressed the importance of equal access to technology.
“Digital access is no longer a luxury but a necessity,” he said.
He was joined by Member of the Provincial Legislature Sakhile Mngadi and Ward 22 councillor Privi Makhan during the launch.
Following its rollout in iLembe, the programme will be extended to other districts, including uMgungundlovu and Sisonke, to reach more rural communities.
School principal Ntombenhle July said improving digital access was one of the school’s most pressing challenges.
“This initiative gives us renewed hope and confidence that our children can acquire relevant skills and ultimately play a meaningful role in the digital economy,” said July.
