New PET Fish educates Crawford pupils about good recycling habits
The fish 'eats' plastic, helping to keep litter out of our oceans.
Crawford International North Coast pupils are excited to interact with their new school pet – a fish designed to help the environment.
The PET (polyethylene terephthalate, used in most plastic bottles) fish was installed on Earth Day last Wednesday as part of the WESSA Schools Programme, which promotes environmental education countrywide.

The fish can be ‘fed’ with clean, empty plastic bottles, which will then be recycled, introducing the school community to the benefits of safe disposal.
While it may seem like a small action, these collective efforts help keep thousands of potential pollutants out of our rivers and oceans.
