Tinley Manor Primary and Dr B W Vilakazi pupils impress at poetry contest

The competition brought together 11 schools on May 2, where pupils from Grades 4 to 7 competed before an enthusiastic audience.

Young poets from across the iLembe District displayed their talent and confidence during a poetry recital competition hosted at the Luthuli Museum earlier this month.

The competition brought together 11 schools on May 2, where pupils from Grades 4 to 7 competed before an enthusiastic audience.

Tinley Manor Primary and Dr B W Vilakazi Primary emerged as the top-performing schools.

From Tinley Manor Primary, Bekaliphi Miya (Grade 4), Mbali Mthembu (Grade 5), Bayanda Nxumalo (Grade 6) and Andiswa Mkhwanazi (Grade 7) led the school to top honours.

The school secured first place in the Grade 4, Grade 6 and Grade 7 categories, achieving an impressive clean sweep in three divisions.

Dr B W Vilakazi Primary School also made a strong impression, earning second place in Grade 4, first place in Grade 5, third place in Grade 6 and second place in Grade 7.
