The Mandini Academy marching band made its mark at the recent Field Band Foundation National Championships in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Competing against nine other bands at Wanderers Cricket Ground, the school won both the People’s Choice Award and the steering committee section, while finishing second in the best marching percussion category and third in the best dance performance division. The school performed a diverse selection of songs under the theme ‘United Nations’.

“Our learners have made Mandeni, iLembe and KZN proud, said Mandini Academy principal Desigan Pillay.

“This achievement belongs to our talented learners, dedicated staff and band instructors, supportive parents and every community member who stood behind us.”
