On Tuesday, April 14, I was late in going to donate blood and only arrived at the Ballito library at 5:40pm.

After filling in their forms and being tested for blood pressure and blood iron level they inserted the needle into my vein at one minute to six. Then there was a power outage at 6pm, so I gave blood in the dark. Luckily they had a couple of torches so the donation went well.

My donation was the 50th of their long day from 10am to 6pm and they said this was the quantity they expected for the day. The blood-receiving group were cautious and friendly even though I arrived late, and said blood was needed because of car accidents that had occurred over Easter.

Blood donations occur every second Tuesday of the month at the Ballito Library in Compensation Beach road. Thanks to the blood receiving group for working happily and doing overtime in the dark.
