Last year the Courier published a site map of the proposed position of the permanent taxi rank in Ballito. Perhaps it may be refreshed in the newspaper for all to see and put an end to all the ludicrous suggestions for alternative sites.
We are all aware, as was mentioned in the DOCRRA feedback report, that no time frame or feedback is available for the relocation of the rank, but surely it is time for action to be taken to solve the problem for the good of the town and commuters.
Mr Charsley obviously does not reside near the present position or his proposed alternative of the rank and has not experienced the congestion and the occasional pandemonium which we, who do reside in the area, have to contend with.
Other points to ponder. The business in the Ballito Bay Mall, I agree is marginalized however, it is destined to be non-existent once our new Super Mall opens its doors.
Lastly, taxi drivers are seldom, if ever, seen to be “ticketed”. Therefore, why would this suddenly happen if they use Simbithi Drive for drop offs etc.?
