Things I don’t understand

I don’t understand why we accept things as they are. I moved to Ballito eight years ago, and still don’t understand why:
• Men urinate on the side of the road,
• People in power demonstrate how not to do things the right and legal way,
• Public officials spend money on themselves, while so many children go hungry,
• Continual building to expand Ballito, and no legitimate plan to resolve lack of water and electricity,
• Children are raped and the legal system is not taking care of them,
• Many teachers in KZN not able to teach our youth,
• The Department of Basic Education spends more time and money on test results instead of providing proper resources and training for teachers and principals,
• End of term tests given two weeks before end of each term, which causes very low student attendance and limited instruction,
• Teachers are expected to teach 50-95 children in a classroom, no one to assist with children with learning difficulties, no one to work with children behind in class,
• School administrators told how many children can be held back, therefore, many children are promoted to next grade and not able to keep up,
• Because of not challenging our youth to think for themselves, when they do get jobs, several are not prepared to provide quality service,
• Most jobs not done properly first time, have to be redone-roads, buildings, plumbing and electrical work.
Children are our future. They need us to speak up. What can we do to change this cycle of entitlement?

Ballito
That’s a lot to not understand. Basically, men urinate on the side of the road because they can? – Editor.
