Following yet another horrific accident in a matter of days on our doorstep, is it not time that we as a community stand together and make a stand against trucks passing through our North Coast towns either on the M4 or the R102.
A few members of Ballito have already started this, calling up management of companies such as Cosmopolitan and M3 transport and sharing with them the risk of trucks passing through town and passing crossings where kids walk to school (Ashton to name but one).
In many cases management complied, realizing the risk of hitting a pedestrian is larger than that bit of extra profit.
Let us take this one step forward. Should you see a truck pass (y)our town, look at the number on the side of the truck and call their head office, stating that we in Ballito do not want our children/staff /family run over by trucks where owners just want to avoid paying toll on a road designed for 20+ ton trucks.
Hereby a challenge to all parents, esp. Ashton. We started our part of the journey to make Ballito safer.
Now do your part!
