The addition of adding recycled (grey) water into the potable water system has to be a no-brainer.

As I recall there was resistance to its use in the potable water supply system. Now given that the only harm (?) that one can suffer is from ingested water it seems to me that feeding the grey water into the potable water system is about the most logical thing that could happen in the current crisis….why ???

I would estimate that only about 10% of the water is ingested and the rest used for showering, washing, flushing, cooking etc. I have read recently that the quality of the recycled / grey water produced by our supplier(s) said to be around 97% pure.

So who cares if it’s recycled? If it is 97% (?) pure and within safe limits it is good. Not having water is a far bigger problem than this. If in doubt then it can be boiled and cooled and therefore harbours no nasties. Bottled water is another option.

It is of course disappointing that those responsible for our water supply are not competent to manage their task. This has been coming for months without any real sensible actions being taken (with the possible exception of a failed pipeline wasting ratepayers’ hard earned cash).

We are told we must all now pull together to manage the crisis (Sound like Eskom?). Of course we must and will but . . . WE did not get us here, guys!

Clearly we will get through this but surely it could have been managed better and been less painful with a modicom of brain application from the suppliers
