I write in response to your article Pointing Green Fingers (Courier, July 10). I must applaud our community for taking a stand against this legalisation. Even though it may seem beneficial to legalise this drug, the concerns are great.

For a little medicinal or recreational purposes, the negative impact it has on the body and mind far outweighs any good.

By legalising this drug, society will be in great danger. It slows down your mental judgement and just like driving under the influence of alcohol, road users will have to be extra cautious. There is also no scientific proof that it helps medically. All it is a quick fix that makes you feel like you are on another planet. When the drugs wear off, you still to face what you are going through.

We as a generation should think of the future effects of this drug, not just live wanting to be ‘stoned’.
