I visited the department of home affairs in Tongaat about six weeks ago to apply for my passport.
The tap outside was dripping and when I spoke to one of the employees they said they spoke to their manager but it hasn’t been reported yet. I asked to speak to the manager, who wasn’t available. I called the Siza water number and there was no reply. The employee advised she would tell the manager.
Two weeks later I returned to collect the passport. The tap was still dripping. Again I called Siza and no reply. I also called the 031 311 5457 number which doesn’t exist. Reported again to the manager at home affairs who was unavailable.
I am now standing in the queue for my children’s passports. I feel sick watching the tap dripping again and cannot believe hundreds of thousands of people have been watching it run like this for who knows how long?
Frustrating when we are doing all we can to save every drop and the departments themselves couldn’t give a damn.
